Ajahn Brahm, geboren 1951 in London, studierte Theoretische Physik an der Universität von Cambridge und ist seit mehr als 40 Jahren buddhistischer Mönch. Neun Jahre lang lebte, studierte und meditierte er in einem thailändischen Waldkloster unter dem Ehrwürdigen Meister Ajahn Chah. Heute ist Ajahn Brahm Abt des Bodhinyana-Klosters in Westaustralien und einer der beliebtesten und bekanntesten buddhistischen Lehrer unserer Zeit.

Ganz ehrlich, ich habe das Buch mit etwas Zurückhaltung gekauft, weil ich nicht wusste, ob ich mit religiöse Texte antun muss.Entgegen meiner Erwartungen ist dieses Buch aber gar kein religiöses Buch, sondern eine Mischung aus sehr interessanten Geschichten und Lebensweisheiten, die selbst meine Kinder sehr genießen.Ich bin komplett begeistert von diesem Buch und auch sein Vorgänger (Die Kuh, die weinte) gehört mittlerweile zu unserer Buchsammlung.
Ajahn Brahm hat eine sehr entspannte Einstellung zum Leben. Einfach alles nicht so ernst nehmen. Dies bringt er auch in diesem Buch super rüber. Ich habe mir dieses Buch gekauft weil ich davor "Die Kuh die weinte" gelesen habe und es einfach super fand. Man kann einfach immer mal reinschauen und eine kleine Geschichte lesen um sich selbst ein wenig aufzumuntern.Kleiner Tipp: Wer Ajahn Brahm live sehen möchte kann einfach auf Youtube nach dem Channel "Buddhist Society of Western Australia" suchen.Das ist der Channel des budhitsischen Klosters unter der Leitung von Ajahn Brahm. Jeden Freitag werden sogar die Veranstaltungen auf Youtube live gestreamt. Ajahn Brahms Reden live zu erleben ist wirklich besonders und er zaubert mir mit seiner positiven Art immer ein Lächeln ins Gesicht.
Sehr schöne, kurze buddistische Geschichten, zum Schmunzeln, Lachen oder Staunen und voller Lebensweisheiten. Das Buch eignet sich auch gut zum Verschenken.
Wer wie ich, Ajahn Brahms Friday Talks im Internet verfolgt, muß enttäuscht werden.Die Kuh, die weinte hat mich vor Jahren mehr berührt. Aber das liegt vielleicht daran, dass ich ihm mittlerweile aufmerksam zuhöre. Seinen (Sprach)-Witz habe ich im Buch sehr vermißt. 3 Sterne nur, weil ich ihn sehr mag, sein Oxfordenglisch so dermaßen symathisch klingt und er einer klügsten Menschen ist, die ich "kenne". .
"Die Kuh, die weinte" war lange Zeit mein Lieblingsbuch und lag immer griffbereit. Beim ersten Lesen konnte ich es kaum wieder aus der Hand legen, und die Geschichten haben mich tief berührt. In Erwartung eines ähnlichen Erlebnisses bestellte ich mir dieses Buch. Aber es enttäuscht mich. Ich habe es noch nicht einmal halb durchgelesen, und es liegt seit Wochen auf meinem Nachttisch. Wahrscheinlich kann man einfach nicht so spitzenmäßige Stories wie im ersten Buch immer wieder aus der Feder schütteln. Diese neuen Geschichten bringen mich oft nicht einmal zum Schmunzeln. Nett sind sie allemal. Aber kein Knüller.
Hat mir geholfen und hilft immer noch...vieles relativiert sich und vieles wird auch angestoßen...Bin sehr zufrieden und es ist perfekt!!!
Die Kurzgeschichten beinhalten Erfahrungen und Weisheiten des buddhistischen Autors. Manches ist zum Schmunzeln - vieles zum Nachdenken. Wenn die Mehrheit der Menschen auf unserem Planeten so denken und handeln würde, wie der Autor, wäre die Welt in Ordnung!
Der Autor beschreibt - ganz witzig - Lebensregeln, die an unseren Gewohnheiten so manches entdecken lassen.Manche seiner Geschichten und Beobachtungen vergesse ich nicht. Das ist schon ein Erfolg des Autors, für einen 77 Jahre alten Leser.
