Gefällt mir ausnehmend gut! Das Buch zeichnet eine Linie aus den Anfängen von Kevin Mitnick in den frühen 80ern, garniert mit Anekdoten aus der "guten alten" Zeit™ des Phreakings.Dennoch schlägt er immer wieder Brücken zur aktuellen Technik und gibt Ratschläge wie man seine eigene Kommunikation so sicher und anonym wie möglich machen kann.
Sehr unterhaltsam geschrieben. Einige gute Tipps für die eigene Datensicherheit. Wer allerdings Schritt für Schritt Anleitungen erwartet wird enttäuscht sein.

Alles dreht sich um die Frage "Wie können Sie Ihre Privatsphäre schützen?" Der Leser erfährt, welche Datenschleppen er im Alltag unweigerlich hinter sich herzieht und welche persönlichen Spuren er dennoch wie vernebeln kann.

Ihr Telefon, Ihr Auto, Ihre Alarmanlage, ja, sogar Ihr Kühlschrank sind potenzielle Zugangspunkte zu Ihrem Privatleben.“ Wer schon immer nach dem Motto „Gefahr erkannt, Gefahr gebannt“ lebt, sollte auf jeden Fall aufmerksam weiterlesen.Der Autor kennt nämlich alle Schwachstellen und Sicherheitslücken des digitalen Zeitalters und zeigt auf, wie man sich im täglichen leben davor schützen sollte:“Machen Sie sich bereit, die Kunst der Anonymität zu erlernen!“ Dazu gehören neben einer Verschlüsselung von E-Mails und einem guten Passwort-Management vor allem der Umgang mit sogenannten TOR-Browsern, die beim Surfen im Internet die eigene IP-Adresse verbergen, um keine Spuren zu hinterlassen. Sein Motto, das immer noch nicht bei allen angekommen zu sein scheint: „Wer nicht verschlüsselt, bietet jedem freien Zugang!“Neben den Tipps, wie man sich eine zweite Identität zulegt, um im Netz unsichtbar zu sein, und der sicheren Nutzung von öffentlichen WLANs gibt es zahlreiche Anleitungen zur Vermeidung von Sicherheitsrisiken beim bereits allgegenwärtigen „Internet der Dinge“. Gemeint sind all die Dinge, die wir in zwischen nicht mehr missen wollen und mit internetbasierten Apps steuern: Smart-TV, Heizungsthermostat, Alarmanlage, Kühlschrank & Co.Richtig spannend geht es zur Sache, wenn es in dem Buch um Reisen geht, bei denen man auf Smartphone, Notebook, Laptop oder ähnlichen Geräten sensible Daten mit sich führt. Oder wenn der Autor beschreibt, welche Vorkehrungen Edward Snowden getroffen hatte, um seine Kommunikation mit Laura Poitras geheim zu halten. Hoch interessant auch, welche Art Informationen in die kreditkartenartigen Hotelzimmerschlüssel eingebettet sind, die in der gesamten Branche genutzt werden. Auch hier Mitnicks Rat:“Anonymität ist harte Arbeit!“ln diesem Sinne geht es weiter unter dem Titel „Das FBI kriegt jeden“ zum Thema „Silk Road“bevor der Autor im Schluss-Kapitel zu „Die Kunst der Anonymität“ noch einmal viele wertvolle Tipps bereit hält und summiert:“In diesem Buch geht es darum, online zu bleiben und dabei seine wertvolle Privatsphäre zu schützen. Jeder Einzelne – von den technisch weniger Bewanderten bis hin zu professionellen IT-Sicherheitsexperten – sollte es sich zur Aufgabe machen, diese besondere Kunst zu meistern, die jeden Tag wichtiger wird.“Fazit: Wer sollte uns also bessere Tipps zu den Risiken durch den allgegenwärtigen Datenklau bieten, als dieser einst von der US-Regierung meistgesuchte Computer-Hacker?
Das Buch ist Informativ und verucht das Thema rüberzubringen. Man muss bedenken das viele Informationen zum Schutz des Users schnell veralten!. Man muss selbst aktiv werden. sonst eine Bereicherung!
Vom Hacker zum Sicherheitsberater, das scheint ein häufiger Werdegang in dieser Branche zu sein. Kevin David Mitnick war einst der meistgesuchte Hacker der Welt, hat das "Social Engineering" erfunden (also die zwischenmenschliche Beeinflussung mit dem Ziel, an vertrauliche Daten zu kommen), saß mehrere Jahre hinter Gittern und hat als Geschäftsführer einer Sicherheitsfirma die dunkle Seite der Macht hinter sich gelassen. Er führt für Unternehmen Sicherheitstests durch und spürt Sicherheitslücken in deren Systemen auf. Seine Erfahrungen hat er in diesem Buch zusammengefasst.Mitnick zeigt, wie schwer (und fast unmöglich) es ist, dauerhaft im Internet anonym zu bleiben. Bei allen Vorsichtsmaßnahmen reicht es schon aus, für einen Sekundenbruchteil unaufmerksam zu sein und schon hinterlässt man unabsichtlich Spuren, die auf den Aufenthaltsort oder auf die Identität der Person zurückzuführen sind. Doch die meisten Leser werden sicherlich nicht den Anspruch haben, komplett unter dem Radar zu fliegen. Ihnen reicht es schon aus, wenn ihre Privatsphäre im Internet gewahrt bleibt. Und so beschreibt Mitnick, wie sichere Passwörter aussehen und verwahrt werden können, was unter Zwei-Wege-Authentifizierung zu verstehen ist, wie E-Mails mit einer Ende-zu-Ende-Verschlüsselung gesichert werden können, mit welchen Hilfsmitteln die IP-Adresse beim Surfen verschleiert werden kann, welche Gefahren beim Surfen in öffentlichen WLAN-Netzen bestehen und warum Cloud-Speicher trotz Verschlüsselung nicht unbedingt sicher sind. Bei seinen Empfehlungen von Software sollte man aber dennoch prüfen, ob diese wirklich noch up-to-date sind. So ist z.B. das Addon "NoScript" für Firefox aus meiner Sicht nicht mehr die erste Wahl, seit der Browser mit Version 57 auf eine neue Addon-Technologie (WebExtensions) umgestiegen ist.Mobiltelefone sind ein weiteres Thema. Mitnick beschreibt, wie sie funktionieren, wie man sie abhören kann und wie einfach Bewegungsprofile erstellt werden können, auch wenn man nicht telefoniert. Man kennt es vielleicht schon aus Krimis: Selbst wenn die Mobiltelefone ausgeschaltet sind, kann man den Standort ermitteln. Es ist bekannt, dass die Verschlüsselung in 2G unsicher ist und ausgerechnet jetzt überlegen die Mobilfunkanbieter, dieses 2G-Netz für das "Internet der Dinge" anzubieten. Aus meiner Sicht eine Zeitbombe, vor allem, weil die Smarthome-Technologie keinen Virenschutz kennt.Der Autor beschreibt aber auch Probleme, die mit dem anonymen Surfen verbunden sein können. Verschleiert man z.B. das Herkunftsland, indem der VPN ein anderes Land vorgaukelt, kann es Probleme beim Bezahlen mit Kreditkarte geben. Die IT-Systeme prüfen Plausibilitäten und wenn man virtuell von einem Land zum anderen springt, greifen häufig die Sicherheitsmechanismen und lehnen die Zahlung ab.Der Schutz der Privatsphäre im Internet ist ein hartes Stück Arbeit, erfordert viel Disziplin und ständige Anpassungen an neue Technologien. Mitnicks verständlich geschriebener Ratgeber macht auf die möglichen Gefahren aufmerksam und hilft mit vielen konkreten Tipps, den Missbrauch persönlicher Daten zu erschweren.
