Viele Jedi, insbesondere die Padawane und jüngeren Jedi-Ritter, sahen in ihm einen Helden, eine lebende Legende. Manche nahmen es ihm übel, Tausende Jedi im Krieg gegen die Mandalorianer in den Tod geführt zu haben. Andere konnten ihm die Millionen Soldaten und Bürger der Republik nicht verzeihen, die den Tod gefunden hatten, als er und Malak als Eroberer aus den Unbekannten Regionen zurückgekehrt waren. Offiziell war er rehabilitiert und ins Licht zurückgeführt worden, aber es gab solche, die meinten, er würde immer noch die unauslöschliche Verderbtheit der Dunklen Seite in sich tragen. Zugegeben, Revan hatte sich nicht gerade bemüht, sie vom Gegenteil zu überzeugen. Oben an der Treppe angekommen, durchschritt er den Tempeleingang und überquerte auf seinem Weg zum Innenhof den langen Marmorfl ur. Der Rat hatte angeboten, einen passenden Meister für ihn zu suchen, um ihn erneut in den ordnungsgemäßen Gebräuchen der Jedi zu unterweisen - ein Angebot, dass er rundheraus abgelehnt hatte. Revan hatte zu viel über die Macht gelernt, sowohl über ihre helle als auch über ihre dunkle Seite, um wie ein gewöhnlicher Padawan unterrichtet zu werden. Vielleicht hätte man über seine Widersprüchlichkeit hinweggesehen, hätte Bastila nicht einen ähnlichen Weg eingeschlagen. Das Buch stand schon monatelang auf meiner must-have Liste, da ich erstens ein großer Fan der Knights of The Old Republic Spiel- und zweitens der Darth Bane Buchreihe (gleicher Autor) bin.Die Darth Bane Bücher haben einen sehr angenehmen Schreibstil, welcher sich auch im Buch Revan wieder findet. Es ist sehr gut zu lesen (insbesondere für welche, die sich sehr schwer mit Büchern tun) und die Story ist der Wahnsinn.Witziger Weise haben auf den ersten Seiten (da wo die ganzen Mitwirkenden, Danksagung etc. stehen) hin und wieder ein paar Ecken des Papiers gefehlt. Warum auch immer, aber das war zu verkraften.Einziges Makel ist, dass man die KOTOR Spiele vorher gespielt haben sollte, da man ansonsten sicher schwer einen Draht zu den beschriebenen und handelnden Figuren, sowie zu einigen Handlungsabschnitten bekommt. Es ist auch empfehlenswert das Onlinespiel "The Old Republic" einmal anzurühren (vorher oder nachher) - hier insbesondere die Story des Jedi-Ritters und/ oder des Sith-Kriegers. Aber für jeden, der die Spiele kennt, ein Must-Have!Nichtsdestotrotz ein gutes Buch mit viel Emotionen (ja, ich hatte hin und wieder auch einmal ein feuchtes Auge) und einer sehr sehr spannenden Handlung.
Mein lesefauler 14jähriger hat diesen Band verschlungen!!! Mehr kann ich zum Inhalt leider nicht sagen. Ich bin froh, endlich mal ein Buch gefunden zu haben, welches meinen absoluten Star Wars-Fan zum Lesen animiert und welches er auch wirklich interessant findet.Laut Aussage meines Sohnes, hat er so einiges über Star Wars erfahren, was er nicht schon aus den Filmen kannte.
Wie gewohnt liefert Drew Karpyshyn wieder äußerst gelungene Star Wars Unterhaltung. In seinem vierten Star Wars Roman widmet er sich Revan, einem der interessantesten Star Wars Charaktere wie ich finde. Und wer wäre besser dafür geeignet die Geschichte von Revan fortzuführen, nachdem Karpyshyn auch maßgeblich an der Story der beiden KOTOR-Games von Bioware mitgewirkt hat!?Mit dem neuen Videogame The Old Republik habe ich nicht viel am Hut (nicht zuletzt weil es ein MMORPG ist - sowas mag ich nicht), jedoch mit Star Wars Literatur im Allgemeinen, und da muss ich für mich feststellen, ist Karpyshyn neben Timothy Zahn und Kevin J. Anderson einer der besten Autoren. Seine Darth Bane Triologie zählt für mich zu den besten Büchern die ich je gelesen habe!Leider ist "Revan" mit ca. 310 Seiten viel zu kurz! Ich hatte noch ewig weiterlesen können, da eine meisterhafte Atmosphäre erzeugt wird. Ich kann nur hoffen, dass schläunigst mehr Star Wars Lesestoff von Drew Karpyshyn kommt. Er schreibt meiner Meinung nach (neben den beiden bereits genannten Autoren) einfach die "erwachsensten" Star Wars Romane, teilweise sehr brutal - aber stets intelligent und meist unvorhersehbar.
Der Schreibstil dieses Buches ist sehr gut. Die Geschichte wird rasant erzählt, ohne zu viele Umschweife zu machen oder sich an Details zu lange aufzuhalten.Die Beschreibung der Kämpfe ist gut genug, um sich vorstellen zu können, was da wohl passieren mag. Die Charaktere werden ausführlich dargestellt, sodass man mit ihnen fühlen kann und eine Bindung besteht.Da dieser Roman zu dem Spiel Star Wars: The old Republic verfasst wurde, findet man viele bekannte Namen wieder und hat ständig das Gefühl, man wisse schon, wie es weitergeht. Wird dann aber doch das eine oder andere mal überrascht.Nur das Ende hat mir persönlich gar nicht gefallen, was den Genuß insgesamt doch geschmälert hat. Das ist aber keine objektive Betrachtungsweise, andere mögen den Abschluß dieser Geschichte vielleicht.Erzähltechnisch ist hier alles richtig gemacht worden.Trotzdem von mir nur 3 Sterne, eben wegen dem unrühmlichen Abschluß.
Als Star Wars Fan stößt man nach kurzem oder langem auch einmal auf die vielen verschiedenen Bücher, die zum Klassiker mittlererweile hinzugekommen sind.Aufgrund der Tatsache, dass mich die Geschichte, die zeitlich vor den Geschehnissen der Filme spielt, mehr interessiert als was danach passierte, entschied ich mich für dieses Buch.In einigen Wikis und Foren begegnete ich immer wieder diesem einen Namen: REVANDort wurde er desöfteren als stärkster Jedi/Sith betitelt und so stellte sich mir die Frage wer er überhaupt gewesen ist.Das Buch an sich ist toll und abwechslungsreich geschrieben, aber trotzdem leicht verständlich, wodurch es für jedes Alter geeignet ist.Buchvorder- sowie Rückseite sind qualitativ spitze, da sie laminiert sind und sich Revan mit seinem Lichtschwert sowie die Schrift klar vom Hintergrund - und somit vom normalen Buch - abheben.Das alles zum Preis von 12,95€ - was will man mehr?
Dieses Buch sagt mir sehr zu, da es in spannender Art und Weise die Geschichte von Revan erzählt. Auch wenn die komplette Geschichte nicht in nur einem Buch dargestellt werden kann, wird einem dennoch einiges über Revan erzählt.Klar, es wäre hilfreich wenn man SWKOTOR gespielt hat, aber das ist kein MUSS.
Insgesamt ein guter Titel, obwohl ich etwas enttäuscht war, dass die anderen Charaktere von Revans Crew (Kotor I) nur kurz oder gar nicht mehr aufgegriffen wurden. Hier hätte ich mir mehr Tiefe gewünscht. Bei rund 300 Seiten wäre da sicher noch Luft nach oben gewesen. Dennoch: Ich mag Drew Karpyshyn's Schreibstil und die Art der Geschichten, die er schreibt. Wer ohnehin schon andere Bücher aus dem Star Wars-Universum (allen voran die Darth Bane-Trilogie) von ihm gelesen hat, wird hier nicht viel falsch machen können.
Gut geschrieben und fesselt einen an den Kindle.
